Cilantro and chlorella support the body's normal processes for responding to environmental heavy metal exposure. Zinc aids in protecting the kidneys by increasing the production of the cysteine-rich metallothionein proteins. NAC (n-acetyl-l-cysteine) offers protection for liver detoxification and enhances tissue levels of glutathione. It has also been shown to aid in urinary excretion of methylmercury. Alpha-lipoic acid has been included for its potential to help regulate heavy metal induced oxidative stress and to support biliary excretion of inorganic mercury.
