Allergy Basics (video)
We Sympathize with Allergy Sufferers
If you suffer from allergies, we are sympathetic as we at OVitaminPro have experienced our share too. One of the reasons we are into alternative health is to better understand the body and solve problems like allergies.
An Over Reaction
Allergies are caused by the body over-reacting to some substance. It could be inhaled, eaten or just skin exposure. The body's immune system produces what is called an IgE response and is characterized by the release of histamine by mast cells. The allergic response is generally fairly rapid from exposure to onset of symptoms. This is different than the autoimmune response you get from something like a gluten sensitivity. Gluten and similar offenders stimulate an IgG and/or IgA response, and the timing of the reaction can be many hours to even days later. The gluten reaction tends to last days to months instead of hours.
Medical Immune Suppression
The typical medical approach to allergy management is immune suppression. Immune suppression can decrease symptoms, but other problems can arise from continued use of this type of therapy. We find that as you improve general health, you can often improve immune balance and allergies can become milder. If you know what you are allergic to you may be able to avoid it by watching what you eat or even moving to a different part of the country where you aren't exposed to those particular pollens for example. Usually that isn't practical and most often isn't that simple anyway.
Energy Techniques Can Help
Some people (including me) have had success with techniques like TBM (Total Body Modification) or NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique), acupuncture and/or modalities such as a BAX Aura or NRG Nano energetic machines. The advantage of treatments like those listed is that if they aren't effective at least you won't be worse.
Detox is Helpful but Usually Not THE Answer
Detox programs often are beneficial in taking stress off the immune system. Just be sure your blood-brain barrier is intact before launching into any aggressive detox program. See the article in Heath Resources entitled Blood Brain Barrier Assessment for a more complete explanation.
Various labs including Alcatcan run an IgE check for some 100 different foods. I also recommend running an IgG and IgA check for foods that can trigger autoimmune responses that can aggravate the IgE system as well. Common offenders here are wheat, barley, rye, corn, milk proteins and even quinoa. Call us at 877-465-0844 and we will help you decide which test is best and we will facilitate the process for you.
